Zarjaz 14- Cover.

Well, I can now reveal to you all the beauty of a cover that decorates the mighty ZARJAZ 14!

The astoundingly talented Colin MacNeil once again graces us with his talent. This time Colin brings Devlin Waugh with him for his first Zarjaz cover.

Zarjaz 14 is officially released on March 1st, but I'll have copies for sale at Cardiff the week before for those lucky enough to see me there!

This is Colins second cover for us here, as he was the artist that covered the first issue we produced, Zarjaz 05.

This is also our 10th issue, which by my thinking means that we've put out more of these than any other publisher!

2012 is going to be a big year for us here at Dogbreath and Zarjaz. We will be releasing Dogbreath 25 and 26. Zarjaz 15, 16 and 17 and at the end of the year plans are already afoot for a very special title. All this and you know we'll have some astounding covers, too.

Now that 13 is available and Thought Bubble is done with for the year, I can begin to show you some of the things we've had delivered over the last few weeks.

First up we have BAD Company- Krool Intentions by Mark Pexton and James Newell. Currently scheduled for Zarjaz 15.

Next we have Strontium Dog- One Day in Redemption by Alec Robertson and Steven Denton. Currently scheduled for Dogbreath 25.

Next we have Tales from the Back Museum- The Mych by Mike Lynch and Owen Watts. Currently scheduled for Zarjaz 15.

Finally catching up we have Strontium Dogs- Doc Death- Blood from a Stone by Greg Meldrum and David Broughton. Currently scheduled for Dogbreath 25.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by at the table over the Thought Bubble weekend, and especially to Mr Owen Watts for his help in running the table. Our next day out is now booked for February 25-26th at the Cardiff Comic Expo so I look forward to seeing you there. I might even have Zarjaz 14 early!

Zarjaz 13: Cover!

Yup- That's STAZ JOHNSON drawing Rogue Trooper for Zarjaz. Awesome, isn't it? Zarjaz 13 will be on sale after November 1st, and the cover will also be available as part of the Wallpapers section of the blog.

Staz was asked a while ago to provide the cover for Zarjaz, and he was only too pleased to take part, except that he didn't like my original choice of cover strip. After a very brief moment to think it was decided that Rogue Trooper would be the perfect candidate to let Staz flex his considerable artistic muscles!

Here is the line work for the cover Staz kindly supplied. As the more eagle-eyed among you will have noticed, Staz based his work on a classic cover by Frank Frazetta; however, he also missed out on the wraparound aspect of the Zarjaz covers. That is why the cover for the issue is cropped as it is.

A huge thanks once again to Staz for providing us with one of the strongest Zarjaz images we've had.

DARK JUDGEMENT 2- Cover.

I know Rich over at Everything Comes Back to 2000AD has already put this out there, but here is the final crop of the print version for Dark Judgement 2 by Conor Boyle. The cover will also be available in the Wallpapers section of the blog later this week. This years special will be on sale from November 1st, and to celebrate we've arranged for a limited run of Dark Judgement 1 to be available.

For a limited time only- there will be a special 2 pack in the webshop featuring both issues of Dark Judgement for £3.50 plus postage. There will also be copies on sale at conventions for as long as they last.

Last week we were treated to The Blue Spear courtesy of Kev Levell and this week they asked me to provide them with a pic of the one and only- Whistler!

This year, we are proud to announce that both ZARJAZ and DOGBREATH are in the finals for the EAGLE AWARDS for 'Best British Black & White comic'. Voting is currently open HERE! and you can vote till April 11th 2011.

This is the first time these titles have been shortlisted for the finals and including FutureQuake this means that we have three of the five titles eligible this year.

Following on from the sneak peek for ZARJAZ 12, I'm extremely proud to now present the finished cover for ZARJAZ 11.

This issue is an all ABC Warriors special- so who better to provide the artwork than the Warriors current artist CLINT LANGLEY. Clint was a pleasure to deal with, and I'm sure you'll all agree with me that this would not look out of place on the cover of 2000 AD proper.

Issue 7 of Wasted magazine sees the début of a new strip by Alex Ronald and mysterious Emperor: Vampire Vixens of the Wehrmacht.
Yes, the title tells you pretty much everything you want to know about the story! You've got Nazis, and you got sexy ladies- run with it!

We've read the first part of the story, and it is wonderful fun. It is bursting with ideas and cracking dialogue. This episode crams a lot of back story into a relatively short number of pages, and it does it very well- with a number of sometimes hilarious celebrity cameos along the way (one of which had me laughing out loud - or LOLing as I believe the young call it).

But that artwork... ohhhh the artwork. Without seeming to descend into hyperbole, this is some of the best comic art that I have ever seen.

So, if your an adult- and like your humour 'robust'- get thee to your comic shop for a copy of Wasted #7! On sale February 5th.

On sale now is Comic Heroes issue 3, which contains a rather splendid article on the UK Small press scene. Written by Matt Badham, it quotes Both Richmond and myself, and presents the awesome cover to the new- bumper sized Dogbreath 23 by James Feist.

It also presents a small portion of Dylan Teagues illustration for Rose O'Rion (in Zarjaz) in a seperate feature and the fabulous cover to FutureQuake 15 is there too.

Over on his blog, Dunk has been posting preview panels for a little while, and he, like the rest of us here is justifiable excited about this- the first ever cross-over between the two oldest 2000 AD based fanzines. Dunk has also posted a step-by-step for the opening page of the saga.

Lee has also posted about the launch over on his blog, and his prose is mighty.

Both titles will be available in time for the BICS gig in October, and after that from the FQP Webshop.

Bit out of left field this one. A couple of weeks ago, we were approached by Richard McAuliffe and Conor Boyle with info on a project they were working on. A series of shorts for the four Dark Judges and were seeking script opinions.

Needless to say we were impressed, and then they told us that they wanted to have the strips ready for the BICS gig in October at the Brum Wastes!

Fast forward a few emails and now we are proud to be presenting a one-off ZARJAZ Special for the Event.

I still have some copies of the other issues: 0, 1, 2, 3 and 4 available- but they will not be going in the shop as numbers are so low.
